GET HELP LAUNCHING A NEW CAREER

Better Jobs Ontario, formerly known as the Second Career Strategy, pays for the training or education that Ontarians require to get a better job. You may be eligible for up to $28,000 in funding to cover the costs of:

  • Tuition
  • Books
  • Other instructional costs, including student fees, supplies and electronic devices
  • Transportation
  • Basic living allowance (up to $500 per week)

Additional funding may also be available for childcare expenses, disability-related supports, living away from home and Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) and/or language training.

Do you qualify?

You may be eligible for financial support from Better Jobs Ontario if you meet the program’s criteria. If you are unemployed, under-employed or receiving Employment Insurance (EI), Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), you may qualify. A fast-track stream has also been set up for those who were laid off on or after March 1, 2020 due to COVID-19. To find out if you qualify, you will work with an Employment Ontario agency where staff will help you decide if this program is right for you and assist you with filling out the application.
