Addiction and Mental Health Worker Diploma Program
Addiction and Mental Health Worker Diploma Program Overview
Our 54-week program prepares you to support and advocate for individuals facing addiction or mental health challenges. You will gain a deeper understanding of how addiction impacts the brain, behaviour and development across a person’s life span, and learn to assess risk and apply prevention and intervention strategies. You will also learn to guide and communicate effectively with clients throughout their recovery by monitoring their progress and developing treatment and relapse prevention plans. Courses in Crisis Intervention, Treatment Modalities, and Priority Populations provide insight into suicide prevention, overdose response, therapeutic approaches for concurrent disorders, and how discrimination can create barriers to care. You’ll be ready to pursue opportunities in such workplaces as treatment facilities, hospitals, community health centres and educational institutions.
